Firstly, we want to thank you all for your patience in awaiting news on the potential opening of our holiday club, it’s been an extremely frustrating time for everyone.
After finally receiving some clear guidance on how we can operate this summer, we can finally announce that our club in Urmston will be open for 4 weeks throughout August.
There will however be some significant changes made based on the guidance and information we’ve received.
We understand this won’t suit everyone, but we hope you can all appreciate the difficult job we’ve had trying to offer something that caters to as many of you as possible, whilst still following the guidelines and ensuring we can make it work from a financial point of view.
Key changes are as follows
- Only open 3 days per week (Tuesday – Thursday)
- Reduced operating hours (9am – 5pm)
- Full 3-day bookings only (£60)
- Limit of 24 children per week (Max of 12 per bubble)
- No sibling discount available
- Activities altered to accommodate for social distancing
- Bubbles based on age if we get required numbers (KS1 + KS2)
- Children/staff to stay within these bubbles for the full week
- One way systems in place
- All sessions to be done outdoors where possible
- Strong hand hygiene by all participants
- Week 1 (Tuesday 4th – Thursday 6th August)
- Week 2 (Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th August)
- Week 3 (Tuesday 18th – Thursday 20th August)
- Week 4 (Tuesday 25th – Thursday 27th August)
Due to the limitations placed on the number of children that can attend and now only being able to operate at a third of our normal capacity, we’ve had to make the decision to increase the price of the club to £60 for a full 3 day week (£20 per day).
If you would like to secure your child’s place, please visit the holiday club page of our website and complete the online registration form here – https://www.schoolofsport.org.uk/holiday-club/urmston-primary-school/
If your child has previously attended our holiday club you can simply email us to book – email@example.com
(We will aim to reply to everyone within 24 hours)
COVID-19 / Bubbles
Children and staff will remain within the same bubble of 15 for a full week, and where possible for longer.
If a child or staff member develops symptoms compatible with coronavirus (COVID-19), they will be sent home and advised to self-isolate for 7 days and arrange to have a test to see if they have coronavirus COVID-19. They can do this by visiting NHS.UK to arrange or contact NHS 119 via telephone if they do not have internet access. Their fellow household members should self-isolate for 14 days.
Where the child, young person, or staff member tests negative, they can return to the setting and the fellow household members can end their self-isolation.
If the child, young person or staff member tests negative but is unwell, they should not return to that setting until they are recovered.
Where the child, young person or staff member tests positive, NHS Test and Trace will speak directly to those they have been in contact with to offer advice. This advice may be that the rest of their class or group within the setting should be sent home and advised to self-isolate for 14 days.
If this is to happen any remaining sessions due to take place in the 14 day period will be deferred to a later date, no cash refunds will be given.
As part of the national test and trace programme, if other cases are detected within the class or group or in the wider setting, Public Health England’s local health protection teams will conduct a rapid investigation and will advise on the most appropriate action to take. In some cases, a larger number of other children and young people may be asked to self-isolate at home as a precautionary measure – perhaps the whole class, group or site. Where settings are observing guidance on infection prevention and control, which will reduce risk of transmission, closure of the whole setting will not generally be necessary.
You can see the full list of protective measures we will be following here.
As I’m sure you can imagine, things will be done a lot differently for us this summer when it comes to how we deliver our sessions.
We are currently in the process of planning each individual session to ensure social distancing measures are stuck to, whilst maintaining an element of fun for the children!
Just to give you an idea of what we will be offering, please see the list below:
Football (skills based)
Dodgeball (skills based)
Cricket (matches & skills)
Rounders (matches & skills)
Hockey (skills based)
Deferred sessions from Easter
Any sessions that are owed from Easter can be used this summer, however, you would need to make up any difference in price in order to do this.
Alternatively, you can defer the sessions to a future holiday club either later this year or in 2021, when hopefully everything is back to normal.
We won’t be able to provide any cash refunds for these sessions.
Unfortunately, we are unable to run any holiday clubs in Didsbury or Chorlton this summer. We understand this may be disappointing for some of you, but we simply don’t have the means to open at more than one location under current circumstances.
Coaching Sessions on local parks
Those of you who have children currently attending our coaching sessions on local parks, we will definitely continue running these classes until the end of July.
We hope to keep most of them on throughout August as well, however, staffing our holiday club will take priority so we can’t guarantee this at the moment.
We will be in touch towards the end of July to confirm our class timetable for August.
